Bento 1/31/2011-2/4/2011

Happy Chinese New Year!! This is the year of rabbit.

Monday, Sydney had scallion omelet, broccoli beef and strawberries with bunny picks.

I made a rice seasoning bunny with a bow tie, but the bunny looked more like Yorkshire Terrier :( Sydney also had fish cake, vegetable and grapes. And of course, bunny picks.

We had an ice storm on Wednesday morning, so Sydney had a day off. It was also the Chinese New Year Eve. Our family got together to have traditional Chinese dinner with hot pot, eggs, fish and dumplings. I packed two bunny rice balls, egg, floral print fish cake and blue berries.

Friday, Sydney had grilled cheese sandwich with bunny cheese on top, salmon salad and blue berries for lunch.

Bento 1/24/2011-1/26/2011

We had another snow storm last week, and Sydney had one early dismissal and two snow days. We have  exceed the scheduled snow days this year. There will be another winter storm tomorrow and Wednesday. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

On Monday, I packed Korean seafood pancake with Japanese radish, salmon and cantaloupe.

I made a lady bug rice ball with salmon along with broccoli, Taiwanese sausage, cantaloupe and blue berries on Tuesday.

We had 3 inches of snow on Wednesday morning, so I made a ham and cheese sandwich, carrots with blue cheese dipping sauce, blue berries and strawberries on snow man pick.

Bento 11/29/2010-11/30/2010 and Goodbyn Lunchbox

Sydney had high fever since Tuesday afternoon, and the pediatrician wanted her to stay home for the rest of the week.
Monday, I made a salmon rice ball for Sydney, cucumbers and carrots with Japanese Ginger salad dressing, apples and apple juice in the Ziploc 3 compartment container.

Sydney had rice with star shape rice seasoning, sukiyaki vegetable and mix fruits on Tuesday.
I bought these Goodbyn lunch box on http://www.gilt.com/ two weeks ago for $15 each. I finally got them today. They are much much BIGGER than I thought. The pink one which has the ears is for Vienna. Sydney gets the purple one which has no ears.

It comes with two sheets of stickers which can be used to decorate the lunch box. It also includes a reusable water bottle for either water or juice.

Sydney and her new Goodbyn lunchbox.

Vienna loves her pink Goodbyn lunchbox, too.

Ladybug

I had some left over grilled salmon in my refrigerator and I thought maybe I could turn it into something different. So I made this ladybug bento for Sydeny and Vienna, my younger daughter.

Instead of using food coloring to make red color rice ball, I mixed salmon with rice and make them into some little pinkish color rice balls. Then I cut nori in circles and half circles to make ladybugs' heads and spots. The ladybug antennae were made out of black color straw.

I also put some seasoned seaweed, corn on the bob and some grapes in the bento.
