Bento 11/22/2010-11/24/2010 and Afternoon Snack

Last week was Thanksgiving and the theme for the week was autumn and Thanksgiving. Since Sydney had only three school days, I also posted some afternoon snacks in this article.
Monday, 11/22/2010, Sydney had penne with meat sauce, some leave shaped cheese with face expression, cucumber and kiwi. I purchased those face expression punches from http://www.allthingsforsale.com/, and they were $2.99 or $3.50 each.

I tried to cut seaweed to make a pilgrim girl, but it looked like I failed. Sydney had rice, corn, half crab cake, pork chop with mushroom in ketchup and mix fruit on Tuesday.

Since this was the last bento before Thanksgiving break, I made turkey cheese sandwich with Thanksgiving picks, carrot and apple with cream cheese dip.

I went couple stores to find Thanksgiving picks. Unfortunately, I did not find anything. Instead, I bought some Thanksgiving stickers. I used the stickers and tooth picks to make couple Thanksgiving picks for Sydney. But they didn't stick very well.

Sometimes, I made some fancy snack for my girls. Those were parfait (blueberry yogurt, blueberries, strawberries and bananas) and buttered toast.

I also made a Mickey Mouse with 2 slices of banana and a egg custard (raisin for the eyes, almond for the nose and pretezel for the mouth).

There were mini egg custards, mini pigs in the blaket and some grapes in this afternoon snack plate.

Bento 11/8/2010-11/12/2010

We came back from a 10 day Auto Train+Disney Cruise trip on Sunday(11/7) afternoon around 4pm. I ran to the supermarket and grab some food, came home and do the laundry. I was so exhausted. I went to bed at 9pm and could not get up the next day morning. So I let Sydney to buy her lunch at school on Monday.

Tuesday, Sydney has shrimp and corn fried rice, steamed vegetables and strawberries for lunch. You can see I do not have enough food to make a nicer bento. I am still working on refilling up my refrigerator.

Wednesday's bento is Penne with meat ball. I was trying to decorate the meat ball to Elmo, but looks like I did not do a very good job. For some reasons, I think I am still in the "Vacation Mode". Sydney also has some steamed vegetables, strawberries and blue berries.

I made Chicken Terriyaki on Wednesday night. Sydney asked me if she can have it for Thursday lunch. Between the "Teddy Bear" rice ball, there is bean sprout which is Sydney's favorite. Sydney also has kiwi and blue berries for fruit.

On Friday, Sydney told me that she wanted a "big girl" bento for her lunch. I asked her what is a "big girl" bento? She told me that she preferred has no decoration, no furikake, she wanted a simple bento. Ok, did I do a bad job this week??? So I made a very simple lunch box for Sydney today. Curry Chicken with rice, baked pita chips and some fruit.
